BackLash 1(Initial Ideas)
Changing physical into Virtual
Since Backlash is already designed for the board game version, design for the PC version is relatively easy. I'll mention everything about the game here anyway.
Concept
Players start with 1500 followers and 4 random "Post" cards that represent one of the 4 social media in the game. Each one of these are worth a certain amount depending on the "Type" card. The social medias are:
- Snapchat
The "Type"cards represent the medias that are posted on social media and this ties in with the post cards, so for instance, the "Text" type card makes a twitter text post card the top rank. The types of post are:
- Text
- Video
- Picture
- Gif
The "Backlash" cards represent how the followers react to posts. These can have positive affects or negative or neutral. The backlash cards are only given to the winner of each round which is determined by the "Type" and "Post" cards. The affects of the back lash cards are:
- Gain followers per round
- Loose followers per round
- Nothing happens
- Loose all potential followers
- Double or Triple the potential followers
The followers are represented by a simple number, they determine the winner but the players also have to risk some every round depending on how confident they are with their post card.
Follower happiness is represented by 5 levels and is only affected by the backlash cards. Low follower happiness means the player is vulnerable or has less to gain from a backlash card and high follower happiness means backlash cards cause less damage and potential to gain much more. Players start on level 3 which is neutral. Levels 1 and 2 are negative follower happiness and levels 4 and 5 and positive follower happiness.
